National Youth Foundation dedicated to the cherished memories and idol of Late Shri Laxmi Raman Acharya, a true Gandhian and a veteran Freedom Fighter, who served the country in various capacities as Deputy Chief & Finance Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Union Minister as Chairman of Khadi & Village Industries Commission, Govt. of India, Mumbai and scores of other national and international positions of high esteem including ambassadorial assignment in Mexico.
Inspite of his long innings in Government, he always remained committed to the social cause. Many institutions of national and international repute in the field of Education, Art & Culture flourished under his able guidance and leadership.. As a Minister in Uttar Pradesh Government, he handled various important portfolios like PWD, Revenue, Law, Jail, Transport & Tourism. Open Air jail System in Uttar Pradesh was initiated by him during his tenure as jail Minister.
Hailing from a Landlord family, son of a Revenue Minister of Erstwhile Alwar State of Rajasthan ruled by a pro British ruler, contrary to his friendly lineage he plunged into national movement at the early age of 16 on the call of Quit India Movement by Mahatma Gandhi. But unlike the other young boys, he never give up his studies and completed his Law degree from St. John’s College, Agra, completing part of his studies from the British jails.
He spent 7 years rigorous imprisonment in British Jails sentenced to him from time to time for his active participation in freedom movement. He was the Prime accused in famous Agra Conspiracy Case which sent the shock to the royal bureaucracy and electrified the youth to march forward for Independence cause.
During his visit to Sabarmati Ashram, Mahatma Gandhi blessed him as the Son Of The Soil and presented him a copy of Bhagawat Gita which was a source of inspiration and strength to him throughout his life. He breathed his last as a true Karmayogi dedicated to the national cause.
National Youth Foundation pays its rich tribute to this apostle of Fraternity, Peace and Love who lighted the hearts of millions leaving behind a rich legacy of high values and ideals.
